Playful drop cap series for the 2022 edition of 36 Days of Type. The forms are based on my own Fraktur blackletter calligraphy. I started with a broad nib pen and ink, and moved to iPad to refine the letterforms. Characters were vectorized in RoboFont and decorated in Illustrator.

The drop cap set uses the Fraktur base letters, with a limited color palette and 4 retro decorative themes (outlines, drop shadows, 3D, halftones). The set includes 26 upper case characters, figures 0-9, and four decorated ampersands.

A typeface based on the Fraktur base letters is in the works!
